| The passing of Millvina Dean - Sunday, May 31, 2009The SS Titan Foundation is deeply saddened by the passing today of Millvina Dean, Titanic's last living survivor, ironic as today also marks the 98th anniversary of Titanic's launch from Harland and Wolff.
It was hoped that she would stay with us until at least the completion of Titan, where we had hoped she would christen her.

Founder/Chairman
As Chairman and Founder of the SS Titan Foundation, Mr. Joseph Ricker has extensive experience working within the Minneapolis/St. Paul air freight cartage industry, where he has been employed for much of the past fifteen years with various employers, including Airborne Express, Manna Freight Systems, J&D Express, Pilot Air Freight, and most recently, AMS Express.
Mr. Ricker has also been developing his entreprenurial side as well through the years, as he has been involved in the start-up of many small ventures, including Ricker Astronautics in 1990, a company he tried to develop to capitalize on the privatization of the space launch industry, as well as the pre-cursor to the SS Titan Foundation, S.S. Titan, Ltd, formed in 1998 and dissolved in 2003. From S.S. Titan, Ltd., Mr. Ricker spun off RKX, an air freight transportation company, which operated in 2001. In addition to his current functions as Chairman of the SS Titan Foundation, he also is President and CEO of Xenrgi, a wind energy venture currently planning for investment in a small to medium size wind project in north-eastern South Dakota.
Born on October 14, 1967 in St. Paul, Minnesota, Mr. Ricker attended both Harding and Humboldt High Schools in St. Paul, and after enlisting in the United States Army in January 1986, he received his GED through El Paso Community College at Fort Bliss, Texas in April of that year, and graduated with a diploma from the Army’s Air Defense Artillery School in August 1986, specializing as a Patriot Missile Crewmember, MOS 16 Tango.
Following his honorable discharge in August 1988, Mr. Ricker gained employment with the Minnesota North Stars hockey team in Bloomington, Minnesota in September 1988 (where he remained in various capacities until the team’s move to Dallas in 1993), and furthered his education by attending the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1989-90 and 1990-91.
As Chairman of the SS Titan Foundation, Mr. Ricker’s passion for Titanic began when he was five, after a visit to the Northtown Mall in Blaine, Minnesota, which for years had in one of its public entrances a massive and awe inspiring model of Titanic some 30 feet long, depicting Titanic’s final hours as she raced through an icefield towards legend.
His current responsibilities are extensive, covering all aspects within the organization’s structure from assembling its mission and vision into a legal entity, to developing its web content, beginning the assembly of the initial Board of Directors, securing initial donations, applying for the 501 ( c ) 3 exemption through the IRS, and various other day to day duties.
Mr. Ricker is single and makes his home in Richfield, Minnesota.
