| The passing of Millvina Dean - Sunday, May 31, 2009The SS Titan Foundation is deeply saddened by the passing today of Millvina Dean, Titanic's last living survivor, ironic as today also marks the 98th anniversary of Titanic's launch from Harland and Wolff.
It was hoped that she would stay with us until at least the completion of Titan, where we had hoped she would christen her.
We join the millions of Titanic enthusiasts around the world in mourning her loss today, she will be sorely missed ...

To be effective as a non-profit in today’s world, with a tightening economy and with the charitable donation becoming an ever more scarce commodity in this sector, smart and sound business decisions have to, and are being made by non-profits as they compete for those shrinking dollars. As a new organization, the SS Titan Foundation will have to work even harder to gain the public’s trust for their precious funding of this important endeavor, and to take on larger, more established charities for funding. It is certainly a serious challenge that the Board of Directors will have to tackle going forward.
To alleviate some of this pressure, the SS Titan Foundation recognizes that establishing strategic alliances with various other institutions within its community will strengthen the concerns of all involved. The Foundation will vigorously pursue many different types of relationships with these varied entities, from outright partnerships, to coordination, cooperation, and collaborations. These partnerships, whether close or intermittent, will serve to allow the Foundation to grow into a stronger member within its community and sector, through the sharing of resources, better organization ability, and efficiency.
As an organization dedicated to a charitable purpose not only within its community, but one set upon a worldwide stage, the Foundation has a tremendous duty and obligation to fulfill its mission to those dependant upon its success.
Charitable concerns that have interested the SS Titan Foundation for possible collaboratives include the following organizations whose aims are in line with our goals:
| St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital |
Memphis, TN |
| World Vision |
Federal Way, WA |
| Children's Miracle Network |
Salt Lake City, UT |
| Ronald McDonald House Charities |
Oak Brook, IL |
| Shriners Hospitals For Children |
Tampa, FL |
| UNICEF |
New York, NY |
| The Global Fund |
Geneva, Switzerland |
